We're Back

We are back from Germany. We had a fantastic time and got to celebrate the perfect wedding. I started my new job two weeks ago and, more importantly, Niklas started going to a child care center at the same time. Mornings are tough but we are getting into the swing of things. Here are a few pictures for those of you who missed out on Niklas' b-day party. Thanks for all the birthday wishes. We love you all!!!

Organic banana bread for the Birthday Boy.

Most of his presents was stuff for the childcare center.

I.e. I got him a lunch box, containers, a sun hat etc.

We celebrated with friends at Spooners Cove on the weekend.

There was coiny island, bubble beach, sand pit and crafts for activities.

Nothing organic or sugarfree about this cake.

Millie is Niklas' friend from the German playgroup - lots of hugs and kisses.

We spent last Sunday at San Simeon Beach.

Maybe we'll go camping nearby for one or two nights next weekend.

Da wir doch erst in ein paar Monaten kommen gibt's nochmal ein paar Fotos/Filme:

Erstes mal mit Fingerfarben gemalt - am Ende waren natuerlich beide Haende/Arme voll.

Niklas liebt Obst, vor allem Kiwi.

Hut Hut Hut - war Niklas' Idee. Die Kartons sollten eigentlich in den Muell. Nun tragen wir sie schon seit einer guten Woche auf dem Kopf...

Regenmantel und Stiefel hat Niklas von den Nachbarn geschenkt bekommen und liebt es stundenlang im Regen zu planschen. Nur dumm dass ich keine wasserdichte Jacke habe...

Haben den Schrank umgeraumt....

Niklas liebt es den Postautos, Muellwaegen etc zuzuwinken.

New Stats

They measured 34 in / 86 cm (88th percentile) and 21.3 lbs/ 9.5 kg (3rd percentile). Niklas is developing just fine.

John was gone four days enjoying his kids in Ohio. Meanwhile Niklas and I found a free kids bench and table for the patio and spent a couple of hours each day on the beach.

This was taken last summer. I don't think it was this green and warm in Ohio last week.

Gotta love free stuff!

We spent the afternoon on the beach again. The weather was just perfect! At first Niklas was hesitant but after a few minutes he wanted to run into the waves. We had to hang on to him so that he would not go any further.

We went to the aquarium in Monterey. Niklas didn't sleep all day - he was sooooo excited!!!

We got Niklas a new high chair after our friends pointed out that the old high chair was unsafe.

Tante Martina and Niklas have a lot of fun together! Martina and Stefan visited us for the past three weeks - Thanks guys! We really enjoyed your company.

Spooners Cove

Niklas went swimming for the first time and really enjoyed it. He was staring at the paintings on the walls and at the fish hanging from the ceiling. He was amazed by everything.
