Bubbles/Spuckeblasen
Niklas is blowing lots of bubbles lately.
In letzter Zeit blaesst Niklas viele Spuckeblasen.
Dentist / Zahnarzt
Andrea had an appointment with the dentist and asked Doctor Lapidus about Niklas' teeth. The doctor looked at Niklas right away and gave us instructions on how to clean those precious teeth. Niklas enjoyed the visit! We didn't have a camera with us but the doctor just offered to use his camera - nice!
Andrea hatte einen Zahnarzttermin und hat den Doktor Lapidus gefragt was wir mit Niklas' Zaehnen machen sollen. Der Doktor hat sich sofort den Niklas angesehen und uns Anweisungen gegeben wie wir die Wertvollen Zaehne pflegen sollen. Niklas hatte viel Spass bei der Untersuchung! Wir hatten keine Kamera dabei aber der Doktor hat einfach seine eigene Kamera zur Verfuegung gestellt - sehr nett!
New Stats / Neue Statistik
We had our 4 month check up today. Niklas is actually 4.5 months old. Everything is great. Even though Niklas is somewhat skinny, there is no reason to worry. Niklas already doubled his birth weight (on average that happens around 6 months). Here are the stats:

Thumb Sucking/Daumenlutschen
Lesson 1: If you're frustrated because you just can't get that finger in the mouth just suck on the lower lip.
Lesson 2: Try these two fingers first.
Lesson 3: Then practice with the middle finger.
Lesson 4: More advanced students can try the middle and ring finger together.
Lesson 5: Masters of this art suck on the thumb.
Lesson 6: Don't forget to take a break and smile.

Teething / Zahnen
Niklas started teething before he turned 4 months old. The teeth still didn't break through the skin but I can see more of them with each day. Niklas is a tough boy - hardly cries at all!
Noch bevor Niklas 3 Monate alt wurde hat er mit dem Zahnen begonnen! Die Zaehne sind immernoch nicht durch die Haut aber es kann sich nurnoch um Tage handeln. Niklas ist sehr tapfer - er weint kaum!

We really enjoyed the weekend with John's brother Dan, sister-in-law Cheryl, and nephew David!
We walked along the bluff trail. Niklas had to be carried on the way back.
We watched David kite surfing - scary! It was extremely windy.
We had lunch at the Bay Cafe.
We went on a hike and we all made it to the top!

The Water Baby
The Water Baby (aka Niklas) had a lot of fun with the Hydraulics Engineers!
Das Wasserbaby (Niklas) hatte sehr viel Spass mit den Hydrologie Ingenieuren! Andrea hat im ersten und zweiten Trimester in der Hydrologieabteilung gearbeitet.

fun with our visitors from Boston! Uncle Dan, aunt Cheryl and cousin David are great! We hiked and watched David while he was kite boarding in Morro Bay.
Wir hatten viel Spass mit unserem Besuch aus Boston. Onkel Dan, Tante Cheryl und Kusin David sind einfach super! Wir waren das ganze Wochenende unterwegs. U.a. wandern und David beim kite boarding zuschauen!

Niklas turned from the belly onto his back for a couple of days on his own, but now he needs guidance for both turns again. It is not so easy with the big cloth diaper. It still is fun!
Niklas konnte ein paar Tage sich alleine vom Bauch auf den Ruecken drehen. Nun braucht er aber wieder Hilfe fuer beide Drehungen. Macht trotzdem Spass!
